Opposition movement “Tajik Youth for Revival of Tajikistan” was created on July 17, 2014 in Moscow by a group of young Tajik labor migrants in Russia in collaboration with the leader of “Group 24” of Umarali Kuvvatov, Maksud Ibragimov, Karomat Sharipov (as the consultant), and other interested personas. The creation of this assembly took place in the office of the leader of Labor Migrants public organization in the Russian Federation Karomat Sharipov. Maksud Ibragimov was elected leader of the new movement. The aim of the movement was the promotion and protection of interests of two million Tajik labor migrants in the Russian Federation. Furthermore, identification of the reasons of the increase in migration in Tajikistan, fighting against the existing Rahmon’s regime in Tajikistan and creation of a prosperous country without exploitation of the Tajik human resources. The movement quickly managed to gather young people from Tajikistan who constantly lived in Russia. As Maksud Ibragimov said: “It is easy to break one person, but if we -Tajiks in Russia- gather and become a whole, then we cannot be broken”. Moreover, other young participants at this meeting complained about social inequality in the homeland, lack of perspectives for young people in Tajikistan, difficulties of work and residence in Russia, lack of work in the homeland, about the fact that many of them have for years not seen their families, about violation of their rights in Russia, about corruption levels in Tajikistan and many other problems. “Tajik Youth for Revival of Tajikistan” was going to be officially registered in the Russian Federation and publish its own newspapers and magazines. Initiators of the new movement began the activity in close interaction with “Group 24” and made a number of trips around the large Russian cities: St. Petersburg, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo where they met the Tajik migrants.
Also in October 2014, Maksud Ibragimov issued the registration of the new movement to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation but got refused as requested by the Tajik authorities afraid of the force of this movement.
