Rahmonov used the Constitution only for his own selfish purposes

Rahmonov(the President of Tajikistan since 1994)used the Constitution only for his own selfish purposes.

November 6 – Constitution Day of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan was adopted on November 6, 1994, at a time when there was a civil war in Tajikistan, as a result of a popular referendum. Although not all citizens of the country were able to take part in its adoption, it was later accepted by the people. The new constitution was supposed to indicate the path to an independent, free, democratic and legal Tajikistan.

Usually in democratic countries, the Constitution is adopted for years and changes only if necessary. However, during the 30 years of independence, the autocratic government of Rakhmonov amended and supplemented the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan on September 26, 1999, June 22, 2003 and May 22, 2016 in order to implement its biased plans, i.e. to remain in power. Having made changes and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rakhmonov not only remained in his post, but also made himself and his family inviolable in order to avoid crimes and violations of the law, laid the foundation for the transfer of power to his son Rustam Emomali.

In this not too long period of time, several times to change the Constitution, from a legal point of view, is a violation of the basic law of the country. After that, Tajikistan’s independence, democracy and rule of law remain only in the Constitution, and everyone knows that the Rakhmonov government has turned Tajikistan into a family, dictatorial, corrupt, kleptocratic, backward and poor country.

Finally, we wish that one day the people of the country live in a truly democratic, free, legal and corruption-free society in a developed and prosperous Tajikistan based on the original Constitution.
