The political movement “Group 24” informs you that Firuz Boboev, a citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan and an active member of the movement, has been detained for the second time by Turkish law enforcement authorities and transferred to an extradition center.
Firuz Boboev has been living in Turkey as a political refugee since 2016. In 2018, he was registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) under the case number 414-18C23784 and has temporary residence status in Turkey.
Boboev has been engaged in political activities within the framework of the “Group 24” movement, consistently exposing the problems of the Tajik people and criticizing the injustices of the dictatorial regime of Rahmon.
He was first detained at the request of Rahmon’s regime on August 3, 2024, and was held in an extradition center in Çanakkale until October 10, 2024. At that time, his lawyer managed to suspend his extradition for 266 days, but on January 23, 2025, he was arrested again and is now at risk of extradition. Since his detention, Boboev’s lawyer has been fighting for the cancellation of the extradition order and his release.
The political movement “Group 24” calls on all human rights organizations and democratic countries that claim to defend human rights to take immediate action and intervene in this case as soon as possible. Turkey is not a safe place for dissidents, and at any moment, Boboev may be extradited to Tajikistan, where he faces a long prison sentence.
As is well known, our movement’s leader, the late Umarali Kuvvatov, was assassinated in Istanbul in 2015 at the request of Rahmon’s dictatorial regime, right in front of his wife and young children. Similarly, in February 2024, the movement’s representative in Turkey, Nasimjon Sharipov, and later its leader, Suhrob Zafar, were kidnapped by the Tajikistani regime. Six months later, it was revealed that they were being held in Tajikistan, where Nasimjon Sharipov was sentenced to 20 years in prison, and Suhrob Zafar to 30 years.
The political movement “Group 24” continues to fight for the release of its members and is ready to cooperate with all human rights organizations and individuals, providing all necessary information regarding this case.
