Today, December 30, 2021 at 13:00 Turkish time, the representative of the “Group of 24” Nasim Sharipov was detained in Istanbul.
Turkish law enforcement officers in civilian came to the place of residence of Nasim Sharipov and took him with them.
At the moment, we don´t know the reason for the detention, and what Nasim Sharipov is accused of. We assume that the detention was carried out at the request of the Tajik authorities in connection with his political activities and participation in the political movement “Group 24”.
Recall that Nasim Sharipov lived in Turkey since 2015 and was engaged in entrepreneurial activities.
In 2018, he was already detained in Istanbul along with political movement “Group” 24 leader Suhrob Zafar. Subsequently, all charges were dropped and Nasim Sharipov received political refugee status in Turkey.
Also in March 2020, he was arrested and sent to a deportation prison, but thanks to the timely intervention of a lawyer, the deportation to Tajikistan was canceled.
We will provide detailed information about the arrest of Nasim Sharipov as soon as information is received from our lawyer and official statements from the Turkish side.
We call on all international human rights organizations to pay attention to the politically motivated detention of Nasim Sharipov and promote his speedy release!!!
