Nasim Sharipov, a member of the political movement Group 24, was detained by Turkish security forces on December 30, 2021 at 13:00 in Istanbul, Turkey, and released on January 3. No formal charges were ever brought against him. Neither Nasim Sharipov nor his lawyer know the reasons for the arrest.
Recall that Nasim Sharipov has been living in Turkey since 2015, and this is the third time he has been detained by Turkish law enforcement agencies.
He was first arrested in 2018 in Istanbul along with the leader of the political movement “Group 24” Suhrob Zafar, was released, and then received political asylum in Turkey.
In March 2020, his extradition to Tajikistan was canceled after repeated arrests and the immediate intervention of a lawyer. Finally, this is the third time that Nasim Sharipov has been detained and released by the Turkish authorities.
The political movement “Group 24” believes that behind the abductions and subsequent extradition to Tajikistan of activists of our movement, such as Shobuddin Badalov and Rakhmatjon Makhmadzhon, in Russia is the authoritarian regime of Rakhmonov, which in this way tries to eliminate its political rivals to sow fear in the hearts of people.
The political movement “Group 24” expresses its deep gratitude for the help and support to human rights organizations and all people who are not indifferent to this situation. We also thank those who pray for the release of Nasim Sharipov. Together we are a great power!
In the end, we once again call on international human rights organizations and the entire international community to give a fair assessment and express a negative reaction to such illegal actions of the government of Tajikistan.
