Rahmonov admitted that he was indifferent to the problems of immigrants!
It is no secret that Rahmonov(the president of Tajikistan since 1994), as well as state officials and institutions in Tajikistan, are indifferent to labor migrants and their problems. We have never seen or heard that Rahmonov raised this issue at meetings with the President of Russia and defended the rights of migrants.
Even during the Covid crisis, the doors of the Tajik embassy in Russia were closed to immigrants. However, today Rahmonov finally admitted this bitter truth, delivering a message to the Tajik parliament. Addressing the people’s deputies in the country’s parliament, he said that he was aware of the poor situation and problems of migrant workers in Russia, he knew that hundreds of migrant bodies were brought to their homeland every year.
According to the leader of “Group 24” Suhrob Zafar, this confession of Rahmonov was made spontaneously, and his sincerity is also under great question. After all, if the President of Tajikistan knows about the problem of labor migrants, then why he has not done anything to solve it in thirty years, did not raise this issue at state-level meetings, did not give instructions to local officials. Why is the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and the Embassy of Tajikistan in Russia and other countries doing nothing to solve this problem? If Rahmonov is aware of the murders of Tajik migrant workers forcibly mobilized by the Russian authorities to war against Ukraine, then why does he not intervene in this issue? Because Rahmonov is well aware that he and his Government rule with the support of Russia and cannot say anything against Russia’s actions.
Rahmonov once again admitted that we did nothing to solve the problems of guest workers, because we think about our benefit. That is, the ego of Rahmonov and representatives of the parliament was higher than the fate of the people, especially immigrants, who are the source of income for the population of Tajikistan and annually replenish the state treasury.
Apparently Rahmonov did not expect to express his opinion in this way. He probably didn’t want to say that, but he did tell the truth.
These words mean that in fact, for Rahmonov, his family and members of the government and parliament, personal interest is superior to the interests of the country and the people. Tajiks, especially immigrants, heard this from Rahmonov himself.
The political movement “Group 24” has been talking about this for many years, but some of the residents of Tajikistan did not believe our words, perhaps they will believe now.
This recognition of Rahmonov was broadcast live, and it is unlikely that this part of the performance will be reduced in the future!
This recognition of Rakmonov should awaken the people of Tajikistan, especially guest workers, from a dream of ignorance. Because they heard from Rahmonov that this Government and Parliament are not popular and have never been and will not protect the interests of the people of Tajikistan.
