Every year, Rahmonov(the President of Tajikistan since 1994) makes a business trip to one of the regions of Tajikistan on the eve of Independence Day. This year, his choice fell on the Badakhshan Autonomous Region. Why Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region?
All Rahmonov’s trips are not much different from each other. The same reception scene by an enthusiastic crowd, most often students and schoolchildren, dancing, singing and reading poetry in honor of the “Leader,” presenting flowers and bouquets to the “guest of honor” and then the grand opening of newly built enterprises, schools and other facilities.
Rahmonov’s arrival in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region was no exception to this rule.
Rahmonov’s welcome ceremony at Khorog city airport was attended by thousands of men and women, youth and children. It was clear that millions of somoni were spent on preparing this scene and subsequent scenes of his reception during this trip for two to three days.
The next scene of the opening of new enterprises and cutting the ribbon looks clearly staged and extremely ridiculous. We have repeatedly witnessed that after the opening ceremony by Rahmonov, such facilities not only ceased to work, but also completely collapsed. Rahmonov during this visit
opened a plant for the production of metal structures, the Darvoz Continental Hotel, etc. Basically, all these enterprises were built by local entrepreneurs, but Rahmonov announces their opening on behalf of the Tajik government. The opening of the school building is again budget money, that is, money of the people. But Rakhmonov presents this as a generous gift from his own pocket.
We will refrain from describing Rahmonov’s visit to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region in detail, and as we have repeatedly said before, all such trips are pointless and reportable. Here we want to talk about the hidden goals of this trip.
Less than a year after the bloody events of Badakhshan, the murders, terror and imprisonment of the freethinkers. And the pain of orphaned mothers and children, widowed brides, all those whose relatives were innocently imprisoned by this bloody regime, has not yet subsided. What does Rahmonov want from this trip?
First, he wants to show both the people of Tajikistan and the international community that the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region is peaceful, and its inhabitants support Rahmonov’s policy.
Secondly, he tries to make amends by opening several enterprises, institutions, schools, distributing gifts and money to people, especially orphans. The staged scene of the orphans’ game looked very touching. Their fathers were shot by order of Rakhmonov!!!! And he has enough conscience to smile at these children and stroke them on the heads!!
Thirdly, and most importantly: Rahmonov celebrated his “victory” in front of the Badakhshans.
However, he is deeply mistaken and it is obvious that the residents of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region participated in this performance forcibly. They will never forget the crimes of Rahmonov’s killer and his mercenaries. Rakhmonov will never be able to buy money for the blood of dozens of freedom-loving young men of Badakhshan.
