On January 26, Emomali Rakhmonov(President of Tajikistan since 1994) delivered an annual message to parliament. For about 2 hours, he told the whole country what successes Tajikistan had achieved, despite the pandemic. He explained that if there are problems, then these are very small problems and anyone, but not the government, is to blame for them. For example, at the end of last year, the government was again forced to impose a limit on electricity, but Rakhmonov assures that there is enough electricity in the country, and the problem is for consumers, since they do not reasonably upset it.
Yes, the president admitted that there is a slight economic decline, but this is due to the pandemic, and for his part he did just the impossible and was able to preserve and improve the quality of life of the population. But just how exactly, the people got better to live, did not say. Delicately silent about the burning topic of rising food prices, this is a minor problem. It turns out that people began to eat less, and live better. Some kind of paradox!
The president also said nothing about a real decrease in incomes. He sees that the monetary income of the population has increased, since the money of the population has become more, it means that life has become better! But Rakhmonov does not notice inflation, that is, like money more from the population, but you can buy much less with this money than before. The president also said that due to the pandemic, up to 80% of labor migrants could not leave for work, but on the contrary, it is good, because now former migrants can find jobs inside the country. That’s just a paradox again: Rakhmonov sees these jobs, and people left without a livelihood, ready for any work and conditions, cannot find these jobs, apparently, only in the head of the president.
The main enemies of Tajikistan were called corruption and terrorism. The president has been fighting corruption for many, many years and is still fighting, but everyone knows very well where the fish is rotting from, it is necessary to start with the “head,” that is, from himself and his large family. Well, the main terrorists and traitors of the Motherland were called, as always, the opposition. Of course, the main threat to Tajikistan is peaceful, sensible people, and not bandits with machine guns. Another Rakhmonov paradox!
Well, the main achievement of the President of Tajikistan, from which he began his speech and devoted a lot of attention and time to him, is the victory over coronavirus.
I wonder if he believes that? The whole world is fighting the virus, the number of infections has exceeded 100 million, many developed countries of the world have introduced a third lockdown (quarantine), and we are doing well and stable. Yes, it is simply unprofitable for Rakhmonov to admit that there is this disease in the country.
After all, the introduction of quarantine is a catastrophic situation for the economy of Tajikistan, which the country simply will not survive. Another paradox: there is no coronavirus in the country, but Rakhmonov does not refuse humanitarian assistance to combat this disease. At the same time, he forgets that the aid is intended for the population of the country, and not for the president and his family.
Officials at all levels are afraid to admit the presence of the disease, because they are defeating the president. Everyone is silent, from doctors to the Ministry of Health.
Under the pretext of combating the “non-existent in the country” coronavirus, mosques were closed. Another paradox: there is no coronavirus, but we will close the mosques, just in case, but public transport and trade enterprises cannot be touched.
Rakhmonov creates a very dangerous situation, the population hears: there is no coronavirus, we defeated it, and people lose vigilance, cease to comply with WHO recommendations. What all this lie from Rakhmonov’s mouth can lead to is not difficult to imagine.
Otherwise, as utopian, the president’s speech cannot be called. How can you deny the obvious, not pay attention to serious problems, not admit your mistakes, transfer your guilt to others and simply lie openly? Problems should not be silenced, but solved, not rigged facts and figures, but sought to proudly voice them, the misses of your rule should be recognized and talked about how you are going to correct them. And Rakhmonov lives his life, very far from the people and their problems, and is not going to report to anyone, believes in his exclusivity and talent as a manager. How much more people’s patience?
