16 November 2020 Tajikistan will celebrate the Presidential Day for the fifth time. The holiday, which is celebrated in many countries of the world, as a tribute to the people, who worked as the first person of the country for the prosperity of their people. On this day, it is customary to recall the history of your country but not with us. In Tajikistan, on November 16, from all sides, we see and hear only the name of the president Rakhmonov. The holiday with historical overtones was turned into another day of worship of the current president. If there were no dictatorship in our country today, then on this day we would recall the difficult historical period of the formation of democracy and the institution of the presidency in Tajikistan.
We would like to recall the following people on this day: Kakhor Makhkamovich Makhkamov, the first and last president of the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic, held office from November 30, 1990 – August 31, 1991. Yes, this person was not the president of a democratic independent Tajikistan, but for ordinary people far from politics he will forever remain in memory as the first president of Tajikistan, a person who has always and everywhere defended the interests of his country.
Kadriddin Aslonovich Aslonov – Acting President of Tajikistan in September 1991. He was not a popularly elected president, but he was the person who made a huge contribution to the formation of an independent of Tajikistan, it is his signature that stands under the 1991 Declaration on the Independence of Tajikistan.
Akbarsho Iskandarovich Iskandarov – Acting President of Tajikistan in October-December 1991 and September-November 1992. Twice served as president: in 1991, when Rahmon Nabiev resigned to participate in the first democratic presidential election in Tajikistan: and in 1992, when Nabiev was forced to resign. During a difficult historical period, he made efforts for the peaceful formation of democracy in our country.
Rakhmon Nabievich Nabiev – the first president of independent Tajikistan 1991 -1992 year. November 24, 1991 was elected by popular vote from a large number of candidates as the first president of independent Tajikistan. This person will remain in history as a conscientious politician, unacceptable violence. All these people were not obsessed with power, each of them was a patriot of their country, yes, they had different views on the future of our country, but no matter how it was, they sought the prosperity of Tajikistan.
Today, the third president Rakhmonov is in power, who does not have a drop of love for his homeland and his people. In the 90s, people gave their lives for the independence of Tajikistan, for the formation of democracy, for the popular president to rule the country, they could not even assume that the Tajiks would have no freedoms in 2020, and “democracy,” “independence” and “president” would be just words. It is beneficial for Rakhmonov that we forget our story and worthy rulers, because he himself has nothing to be proud of, he can only come up with what qualities today’s ruler has and tell children about it on Presidential Day.
