Happy State Flag Day of the Republic of Tajikistan!

On 24 November, Tajikistan celebrates State Flag Day, which was established by presidential decree in 2009.

November 24, 1992 in the village Arbob, near Khujand, held the 16th session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, at which the Regulation on the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan was approved. The Regulation stipulates that the national flag is a symbol of the sovereignty of the Republic, and also describes in detail the appearance of the flag. On the basis of this Regulation, the description of the flag in the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan has also changed, which remains unchanged to this day: “The state flag is a rectangular panel consisting of three horizontally located colored stripes: the upper stripe is red and equal in width to the lower stripe is green, the middle white stripe is one and a half width of colored stripes. On the white strip a stylized crown and a semicircle of seven stars above it are depicted in gold. “

What do the colors of the flag and the golden crown with seven stars symbolize? There are several options for interpretation, but almost everywhere experts emphasize the principle of historicism and continuity. The flag retained colors from its Soviet Union predecessor.

So initially, the colors of the flag symbolized the estates in the ancient Iranian state: red – the color of warriors, valor; white – the color of the clergy, purity; green – the color of free people, nature, prosperity. Later, the colors of the flag began to symbolize the union of workers (red), peasants (green) and intelligents (white). The modern version: red – independence and freedom, white – peace, green – prosperity. There is another option: green is the valleys; white – the color of cotton, snow and ice; red – the unity of the republic and brotherhood with other peoples.

The golden crown is today a symbol of Tajikistan’s independence, previously the “Taj” crown is a symbol of the “crowned” Tajik people, who once owned power in Central Asia.

Seven stars, originally symbolized the most famous Persian-Tajik poets, today you can often hear that seven stars are seven historical and cultural regions of Tajikistan.

Thus, we can safely assert that our national flag is the main symbol of Tajikistan’s sovereignty and a reflection of the great history of our people.

August 30, 2011 in Dushanbe, in honor of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence, the official opening ceremony of the highest, at that time, in the world (height 165 meters) flagpole, which fell into the Guinness Book of Records, took place. What did the state treasury cost the world record, which belonged to Dushanbe until 2014, until a flagpole 170 meters high was installed in Saudi Arabia in Jeddah, authorities do not report. But according to unofficial information, more than $35 million was spent on this. This is a lot of money for our country. And they could be spent on the development of the economy, science, education, sports, culture.

It is a pity that our government does not understand the simple truth: the greatness of the country is not that its flag is larger and fluttered higher, but that the inhabitants of this country have achieved well-being in the economic, social, cultural, scientific and other spheres of life.

After all, the status of the state flag of a country in the world is determined by its people. Figuratively speaking, each individual citizen of the country has a passport that shows a person’s belonging to this state, and the national flag is our common, one for all citizens of the Tajikistan, passport. And how our national flag will be treated in the world depends only on ourselves.

The political “Group of 24” congratulates all Tajiks on this patriotic holiday and wants our flag to be raised all over the world as evidence of the greatness of our people, our achievements in sports, science, economy, global politics!

The Group of 24 aims to make the world aware that Tajiks are a very freedom-loving and just people with the greatest culture and history.
