On the evening of August 31, Tajik writer Abdukadir Rustam was detained by law enforcement agencies when he returned home from work. This arrest is related to the case of the founder and owner of the Ibn Sina hospital, Abduhalil Khalikzoda, who is accused of “inciting national and religious hatred” after the publication of the book “My Way of Life.” This book has also been published on social media.
Rakhmonov’s autocratic, criminal and corrupt regime began killing and imprisoning its political opponents and freethinkers from the early days of its rise to power, and continues to do so to this day. This so-called “elected government,” in power for more than thirty years, using force and fraud, eliminates its political opponents and destroys the free press, journalists, freethinkers and civil society, as well as those it considers dangerous.
Now it is the turn of another part of society – writers and intellectuals, truthful and free-thinking. The purpose of this is to preserve society in an atmosphere of fear, poverty and poverty and to continue to plunder the people and assets of the nation.
The arrest of Abduhalil Khalikzoda and Abdukadir Rustam proves that this repressive and anti-people system does not understand any other language than the language of power.
The criminal actions of the regime over the past two years, such as the imprisonment of journalists, the killings of influential free-thinking public figures in the Mountain Autonomous Region of Badakhshan, the repression of free-thinking young people and representatives of civil society, as well as the arrest of writers, is a warning that “the people, tomorrow is your turn!”
